Hiding

closed.
dark.
hiding.
lost.

darkness so deep
I cannot see.
every little noise scares me.

I want to hear God speak,
but I am frightened by the truth those words may contain.
like Adam, I hide.

in the deepest part of me,
rolling of a distant thunder.
the depth of a Holy God
speaks into the shallow soul
of this sinful man.

when I finally understand
I hear

"Let there be light."
And there is LIGHT.
That LIGHT,
the glory of the One and Only,
full of grace and truth.

my loneliness
now stillness.
my despair
swallowed in hope.
my confusion
lost in certainty of what I cannot see.

I no longer hide
from myself.

I have found shelter;
refuge in the everlasting arms.
There my soul is accepted.
There my life is renewed.

There
I am found.

There
I hide.
